Brewing Raw Pu'erh Tea Guide
Brewing Raw Pu'erh: A Guide
Brewing Raw Pu'erh with a Gaiwan
New Tea
- Preheat: First, preheat the Gaiwan with boiling water.
- Add Tea: Place 7 grams of raw Pu'erh new tea into the Gaiwan.
- Awaken the Tea: Quickly rinse the tea with boiling water then immediately pour it out.
- Formal Brewing: Add boiling water again, pour out after 5 seconds for the first infusion.
- Continuous Brewing: Starting from the second infusion, increase the brewing time by 5 seconds for each subsequent infusion.
Precautions
New tea can be more astringent; adjust brewing time to avoid bitterness.
Aged Tea
- Repeat the steps as for new tea but extend the first infusion to 10 seconds.
- For continuous brewing, adjust the time based on personal taste, starting from 15 seconds for the second infusion.
Aged tea is mellower and allows for longer brewing times to fully explore its flavor.
Brewing Raw Pu'erh with a Yixing Zisha Teapot
New Tea
- Follow similar steps as with the Gaiwan, adjusting the brewing time according to the teapot's heat retention.
- Quick brewing is recommended for new tea to preserve its fresh aroma.
Adjust brewing time carefully to avoid an overly strong tea.
Aged Tea
- Begin with a 10-second infusion and increase each subsequent infusion by 10 seconds.
Extend brewing time to enhance the aged tea's deep flavors and sweetness.
Brewing raw Pu'erh, whether new or aged, is an adaptable process. Adjust based on the tea's characteristics and your taste preferences for the best experience.
